John Froats,
Cassie Reilly-Boccia, Kasey O'Connor and Brendan Kurpis, 4 Yorktown seniors, have done what has not been done before in Yorktown High School. Each Yorkown athlete was awarded the acclaimed Con Edison Athletes award.
This is the first time in the Yorktown’s history that was won four times. John Froats was the first to win for his part in the Yorktown ski team and was followed by Kasey Reilly-Boccia and Cassie O’Connor exciting year on the Softball team. Brendan Kurpis was the last to win for his leading scorer season on Yorktown’s Lacrosse team.
The Con Ed Athletes Award is given out every week to an athlete who has maintained high academic standards, has positively contributed to their community and has achieved athletic success. Students who win have demonstrated that they are much more than an athlete.
The award is given out each week by a committee of athletic directors from Westchester and Putnam. They meet to review recommendations submitted by athletic directors and coaches and to maintain the strict standards and criteria for the award.
