The Yorktown Central School District and the Yorktown Historical Society will dedicate an historical land marker on May 30th, 2008 at 12:30pm at French Hill School (corner of Baldwin Rd. near Route 202) in Yorktown. Mildred E. Strang 7th graders and their teacher Chris DiPasquale studied the history of the Revolutionary War and its impact on Westchester. From their research, they discovered that history happened in their back yards. Literally.
The marker that is being commemorated on May 30th demonstrates the French involvement in our war and marks the his is a designated site of The Washington –Rochambeau Trail (W3R) that retraces the French route from Rhode Island to Yorktown, VA. and back.
All are welcome on Friday May 30th at 12:30 pm at French Hill School on Baldwin Avenue in Yorktown Heights to support the student’s work and their understanding of living history.
