Board Goal I
Fiscal Planning Goal
To carefully consider district needs and resources prioritizing these needs over a three year period:
- corrective and preventive maintenance
- staffing
- curriculum resources
- staff development initiatives
- technology infrastructure and equipment
Board Goal II
Educational Program
Curriculum and Instruction:
- To develop a kindergarten through grade 12 articulated curriculum in ELA, mathematics and technology.
- To develop a plan for vertical and horizontal articulation of instruction.
- To develop a philosophy that will guide our planning for our enrichment, honors and special education program.
Staff Development:
- To provide for staff development that supports our district initiatives: in mathematics, spelling, phonics word study, curriculum mapping, data analysis, use of technology, differentiation of instruction, literacy across the curriculum and response to intervention.
Supervision and Evaluation:
- To develop one protocol for teacher evaluation to assure consistency.
- To support the development of new teachers through a new Teacher Academy and mentor program.
- To insure that all first and second year teachers and teacher assistants are reviewed in a timely manner.
- To insure that all personnel files are current and that all staff are evaluated.
- To maintain a consistent district office leadership.
Character Education:
- To continue to promote programs and speakers that focus upon the character development of our Yorktown students.
Board Goal III
Internal and External Communication and Public Relations
- To develop and distribute a quarterly internal staff newsletter.
- To develop and mail a quarterly external community newsletter.
- To highlight and communicate the accomplishments of students and staff in the Yorktown District.
- To develop the television capacity of the district as a means of communication.
- To maintain an inviting and accurate District Website.
- To hire a Director of Communications to facilitate all of the aforementioned initiatives.
Board Goal IV
Facilities
- To oversee the implementation of Phase I projects.
- To review the plans for Phase II projects.
- To develop a plan for the AE facility.
- To identify a space and construct it to meet the needs of the Life Skills Class at the high school.
- To assess the physical condition at the high school and to develop a building improvement plan to improve those conditions.
- To examine technology needs and adjust and upgrade the infrastructure accordingly.
