Board Goal II– Educational Program

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Consistently implement use of ELA & mathematics maps in the delivery of instruction and in staff development planning. Continue to develop a Kindergarten through grade 12 articulated and mapped curricula in technology, social studies, science and physical education as evidenced by maps in Tech Paths.
  • Implement the plan for vertical and horizontal articulation of instruction to improve overall student performance as evidenced by the articulation plan.
  • Implement the classroom “walkthrough” model.
  • Implement the Middle States Action Plan for year two at Yorktown High School as evidenced through the development of a student service program and the use of data to increase Global Studies Regents scores by 5%.
  • Create continuity of enrichment opportunities for students in the Yorktown School District as evidenced by the K-12 sequence of enrichment programs.
  • Evaluate district-wide special education programs in relationship to best practice to ensure continuity of services with specific focus on high school programs as evidenced by evaluative reports and the district plan.
  • Continue to examine the viability of a full day Kindergarten program.

Staff Development

  • Provide for staff development that supports district initiatives and teachers’ professional growth.
  • Create a staff development plan that provides a variety of technology offerings for teachers and staff.
  • Continue to collaborate with the Teacher Center to provide staff development opportunities in all of the aforementioned areas.
