Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year.
It is a great honor to be part of the Yorktown School District Community. In the past few months I have had the opportunity to meet parents, staff, and students at school day and evening functions. I look forward to further opportunities to know our students and parents in the community.
The assistant superintendent oversees the instruction of all students in grades kindergarten through grade twelve. Recording and alignment of the curriculum to the New York State Standards is a goal. Student learning and performance is at the core of our work together as students, staff and parents collaborate to reach high standards.
With students as the focus, our mission is clear. Beginning in kindergarten we will strive to work together to provide quality learning in order to assure the best preparation for post graduate life.
The Yorktown Central School District is a learning organization. Learning organizations support continuous growth for all their members. Through jointly planned staff development there will be focused opportunities for continuous learning.
The administration and staff look forward to the 2007-2008 school year and all that we can do together for the children and young adults of Yorktown.
Best wishes,
Florence T. O'Connor
