Emergency Closings & Delayed Opening

On days when weather or some other condition requires a change in the regular school day, parents will be notifed by the Connect-ED school-to-family notification system, information will be posted on the school district website homepage and broadcast over:

• WHUD - FM 100.7
• WFAS - FM 103.9
• Newburgh Cable Television
• WBNR - AM 1260
• News Channel 18
• WSPK - FM 104.7

School Closings: Announcements will be made over the radio, on Cable TV/Channel 18 and at www.yorktown.org as close to 6 a.m. as possible.

Delayed Openings: Announcements will be made as close to 6 a.m. as possible and will include the length of the delay. The delay will pertain to all bus runs scheduled throughout the school district, for both public and private school students. Parents and students must continue to monitor radio announcements since it may be necessary, should weather conditions intensify after the first announcement, to change to a further delay or to a closing. Dismissal will be at the regular time, unless otherwise noted.

Early Dismissals: Announcements will be made over the radio stations whenever possible. No activity buses will run nor will any after-school activities be held. Each elementary school will call previously designated parents in various neighborhoods regarding early dismissal if at all possible.
