Yorktown Huskers Sports Club
The club was founded in 1965 as the "Dads' Football Club," and has evolved into an all sport athletic membership organization. It is a valuable adjunct to the Yorktown H.S. students and the interscholastic athletic program. The club raises its funds in three ways; selling ads to the sport journal, membership dues, and the concession stand at the Charlie Murphy Field. The money raised is used to benefit all of the teams and athletes of Yorktown H.S. The club sponsors the end of the year senior athletic dinner at which scholarships are awarded to students of current Husker members and distributes plaques to all senior student-athletes.
The money raised by the Huskers is also used to purchase equipment for all teams. Some examples of the equipment purchased: dugouts at the baseball field, diving platforms for swim team, bleachers, cheerleader uniforms, linemen sleds for the football team, weights and weight training equipment used by all teams, pole vault pit, lacrosse goals, wrestling mats, team recognition banners which are displayed in the gym, and an ice machine for the athletic department, and team chairs and scoring table for the gym.
The Huskers meet at 7:30 PM on the third Tuesday of the month at the high school in room 203. Actual dates are listed in the calendar pages. Membership dues are $25.00 per family per year, or $125 for a lifetime membership. Checks can be sent to P.O. Box 32, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598, or can be paid at any meeting.
