Our School is named after Mildred E. Strang who was a teacher, principal and chief administrator of the Yorktown School System. The Strang family originally settled here in the 1720's and Mildred was born in 1904 and grew up in Yorktown when it was mainly farms and a very small town. Our school was built specifically for middle school students and currently we are home to 980 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students.
We provide a comprehensive program including the standard academics, two years of French, Spanish or Italian, art, health, home and career skills, technology, music and physical education. Also offered are over 45 after-school activities, band, orchestra and chorus. Mildred E. Strang has a library/media center, TV studio, a technology center, art complex, swimming pool, and gymnasium. A professional and support staff of approximately 145 individuals provide a middle level school experience specifically addressing the needs of early adolescents. We encourage you to access our links to find more about our school and the programs that we offer.
