P.S. We Care...About Substance Abuse is a Yorktown School District and Community Action Council who’s goal is the prevention of underage drinking and other drug abuse in the community. The members of the council are district support staff, faculty, our Student Assistance Counselors, Bully Prevention Counselor, School Resource Officer and community members.
P.S. We Care supports and facilitates special programs, guest speakers, the distribution of educational materials, the district/community-wide Red Ribbon Week campaign in October,
activities for Alcohol Awareness Month in April, the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) program and Parent Education programs.
P.S. We Care also co-sponsors parent/teen informational seminars with other school districts and local agencies. Recent programs include; "Teens, Parents, Drugs and the Law" a panel discussion about legal rights and responsibilities for high school students and parents, and a forum featuring Westchester Medical Center, about young inexperienced drivers and the tragedies that can occur.
P.S. We Care meets the third Tuesday of each month at 2:45 p.m.
Community members are invited to join the Council and attend the various programs.
